Posar Hari Shenoy Endowment Fund (PHSEF) is founded and sponsored by Dr. Krishna Shenai, the youngest son of Posar Shri Hari Shenoy & Smt. Sakhu Bai in recognition of his love for his parents, to commemorate his family’s dedication to children’s education, and in memory of his difficult childhood days. Even with modest means and under trying circumstances, Dr. Shenai rose to prominence in field of science and engineering to become one of world’s leading authorities in semiconductor technologies.
Dr. Krishna Shenai was born on June 1, 1956 in Posar Tota, Katapadi as the youngest in a family of ten children, and was raised with modest means. He attended the SVS Elementary School (Kannada medium) in Katapadi and completed Grades 1-7 studies, and then attended the SVS High School (Kannada medium) in Katapadi and completed Grades 8-10 studies. He secured the coveted 15th Rank in the 1972 Karnataka State SSLC Examination.
Subsequently, Dr. Shenai attended the MGM College in Udupi and secured the coveted 3rd Rank in the 1974 Karnataka State PUC II (Science) Examination. Because of his outstanding scholastic achievement, he was offered direct admission for engineering studies at the elite Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Madras where he earned the B. Tech. degree in Electronics in 1979. Financial support from the ASRP Memorial Fund and Kudva Foundation in Mangaluru and Samyukta Gowda Saraswata Sabha in Chennai partially sponsored his studies from Grade 8 onwards. He was awarded the prestigious National Merit Scholarship by the Government of India during engineering studies.
In 1979, Dr. Shenai emigrated to the United States of America in pursuit of higher studies. He earned the MS degree in 1981 and Ph.D. degree in 1986, both in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland at College Park, MD and Stanford University, respectively. Dr. Shenai has had a rewarding 45+ years of professional career where he worked for industry and academia and developed state-of-the-art semiconductor technologies for signal, communication and power electronics products. He and his wife Leela Shenai currently reside in the coastal town of Naples, Florida and enjoy the beautiful gulf coast, world-wide traveling, and philanthropy and community development.
About Our Family
Posar Shri Hari Shenoy hails from the well-known Sunkerikar Shenoy Family. Our forefathers migrated from Sunkeri, a small village near Karvar city in the Uttar Kannada District of Karnataka State. Shri Upendra Shenoy, our forefather and a distinguished member of the Family, travelled to Katapadi about 250 years ago carrying with him the family Deity of Lord Gopalakrishna. He settled in Posar Tota, a small area in Katapadi in front of Sri Venkataramana Swami (SVS) Temple, in a small house and engaged in agricultural activity while performing the daily puja of Lord Gopalakrishna.
Today our Family spreads across India and several other countries. Our Family members are highly educated and successful in their chosen professions that include education, engineering, medicine, banking, business and law, among others. Our Family members have also served in the Indian military and sacrificed their lives in defence of the country.
Our family Temple of Shree Gopalakrishna on the main road of Katapadi near Sri Venkataramana Temple was built in the year 2007. Today, we celebrate Krishna Janmashtami every year in the Family Temple with participation from all the family members.
