Mulki Smt. Saraswati Kamath Endowment - Grade 1-10 students (Mulki & Moodabidri Taluk)
LEGACY
Smt. Saraswati Kamath was born in Mulki to Kenchankere Shri Vasudev Kamath and Smt. Netravathi Kamath. In her childhood, she lived along with her two brothers in Kuber (Kenchankere) village near Mulki taluk. She completed her education till 8th class in Mulki Board School. Later, she got married to Shri Subraya Kamath from Moodbidri and was the mother of four children, two daughters and two sons. Smt. Sakhu Bai, mother of Dr. Krishna Shenai, is the second child of Shri Subraya Kamath and Smt. Saraswati Kamath.


Smt. Saraswati Kamath was very active in social activities in and around Mulki. She also worked with Dr. Rayappa Kamath at Government Hospital, Mulki and assisted as a nurse. She was famously called the “midwife” throughout the coastal Konkan region as she delivered many babies for several decades. During later years in life, she lived in Vasai near Mumbai with her eldest son Shri Narayana Kamath and his family and travelled frequently to Katapadi and Mulki to visit her daughter and her extended family. She was the most loved mother and grand-mother in a large family, and always emphasized on education and uplifting of children in the Gowda Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) community.
VISION
Provide educational scholarships and annual academic performance awards to Grades 1-10 students belonging to Gowda Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) families who reside in Mulki or Moodabidri Taluk. This initiative was launched on Nov. 24, 2024 at MGM College, Udupi.

The first part of this initiative provides 5 “Merit-Cum-Means” scholarships per year, each worth Rs. 15,000/ – to Grades 1-10 students belonging to the GSB community who reside in Mulki or Moodabidri Taluk.
The second part provides academic performance awards to GSB students from Mulki or Moodabidri Taluk who top the annual 7th Grade and 10th Grade (SSLC) examinations. These are one-time merit-based academic performance awards given each year at a specially organized Awards Banquet.
Participation in Shri Subraya Kamath and Smt. Saraswati Kamath Endowment Fund’s award and scholarship programs imply acknowledgment and acceptance of the following terms and conditions.
- The students who have received the scholarship are also eligible to receive the academic performance award if the selection criteria and eligibility requirements are determined solely by the Endowment Oversight Committee (EOC).
- Academic performance awards and scholarships are open to all GSB students living in Mulki or Moodabidri Taluk and are given only once each year i.e. There will be 5 students selected for scholarships and 2 students selected for academic performance awards based on selection criteria and eligibility requirements determined solely by the Endowment Oversight Committee (EOC).
- Applications submitted on the website only will be considered for all scholarship and academic performance awards. Any other sources will not be considered for scholarship and academic performance awards.
- If the application is successful for scholarship/academic performance awards, the Endowment Oversight Committee (EOC) might reach out to the applicants for any additional details/documents.
- Any willful dishonesty may render for refusal of the application.
- The Endowment Oversight Committee (EOC) reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the award and scholarship programs, or amend these terms and conditions, at any time without any prior notice.
- The decision of the Endowment Oversight Committee (EOC) regarding the selection of awardees and scholarship recipients is final and not subject to questioning or appeal. All decisions made by the committee are binding and conclusive
